Honest To Goodness

Honest to Goodness is the solo work of Chad Stocker. He currently lives in Detroit and plays in the rock band The High Strung. The recordings he does under this moniker represent the many other musical sides of his personality. These songs are more textural, folk-drone experiments. His passion is finding new sounds and discovering strange new tricks that older pieces of equipment can summon. The results are well produced, because he has a great deal of experience working in studios. Sometimes we get songs, sometimes we get audio poetry, and everything we get is always worth sharing with our audience.

Black Mayonnaise

More Midwestern madness for Fedora Corpse! This time we hear from Mike Duncan of Akron, Ohio. His Black Mayonnaise project officially came into existence in 1991 and has released many cassettes and splits in these last 18 years. 'Dissipative Structure' will be his first full-length vinyl appearance. This music could rightfully be described as distorted bass and industrial drum sounds recreating the toxic sludge and post-apocalyptic cataclysm of corroded war machines. His previous major works have appeared on Resipiscent Records and Emperor Jones.

Expo '70

Expo '70 is the main musical project of Justin Wright. Based in Kansas City, Wright released a number of CDr's that were picked up and enthusiastically recommended by Aquarius Records, who compare the project to early Krautrock and the heaviness of some of today's darker drone monuments.

Call it a philosophical meditation on amplified sound, or maybe the simplicity of heavy winds flowing through a mountain pass. Either way, after hearing the beauty of “Animism” (Kill Shaman) and “Black Ohms” (Beta-lactam Ring), and appreciating their amazing design work, a full length with Fedora Corpse seemed mandatory.

Evenings

Evenings is Miles Haney, of Tapeworm Tapes, from Kalamazoo Michigan. Since 2005 he has been creating low rumbles and horrific atmospheres working with electronics, tape and who knows what else. We think he is trying to scare us. He has at least 30 ultra-limited releases in his epidemic discography. And although we've been unable to collect them all, we were lucky enough to grab his first cassette, “Nocturnes”, which we play constantly. Fedora Corpse is thrilled to be sharing in the terror that is Evenings.

Comoros

Comoros is a drone duo from Philadelphia. They play large, delay-driven riffs all of which travel through the same effects route. Like always getting lost in the same place, Comoros is created in the chaos of predictability.

Göte

Göte has always been our main act because it is us, the people behind Fedora Corpse. Jennifer Melinn and Adam Melinn started this band in late 2001 and it has undergone many changes in that time. Three studios later, this band has produced more than any other we work with. Tapes, computer files, CDr's, a live show and now finally a proper slab of vinyl. It's been called free-metal, noise, avant-garde improvisation and our neighbors have called it LOUD. However, we have always referred to it as 'battle music for happily married couples'.

Sshhh...

Ypsilanti, Michigan. Self-taught free jazz. This project served more as an activity than as a musical group. 320 N. Normal St. was a place where musicians and artists met up to create interesting new works in the late 1990's. The core of this group were Chad Stocker and Adam Melinn, but frequently featured other contributors such as: Ryan Malerman, Jen Pelavin and Paul Holmes. They recorded all of their musical sessions as well as their performances at Vinyl Joe's and the Gypsy Cafe. Our label is proud to release some of this material for the first time.

The Saint Mary's Fair

The well tuned piano has been drinking. It's a dusty old book containing songs about folklore and dirt floors. Sure, this one man band is inspired by circuses, fairs and carnivals; but he is also obviously influenced by 20th century classical composers. Like a strange woodland shack where Glen Branca, Peter Brotzman, Tom Waits and the Dirty Three meet up for a weekly card game, Adam Melinn tries to capture this through his clarinet, melodica and whatever else he can grab.

Dead Sword Wolf

This project is a series of collaborative jams featuring Göte with Sebastian Petsu, a Philadelphia musician who performs his tape collages in numerous ensembles. They get together when they can to vent their frustrations, record their noise and to discuss both the Grateful Dead and Iron Maiden.Although these sessions have only taken place a few times, they're always fun and worthy of throwing up some mics and making some cassettes.
